Win32:TratBHO [Trj] persistent infection |

Ritual:
Hello. I have a problem. Win32:TratBHO [trj] keeps reappearing on my system. Something is obviously infected, because various files keep getting written to C:\WINDOWS\system32. If Avast can pick up the resulting files from the trojan, why can't it find the process that is creating them? Why did Avast let the program through in the first place? Is there virus software that will prevent this from happening again? More importantly, how do I get rid of it? I have looked through a few threads and have found various suggestions that don't seem to be consistent. I would appreciate any help offered. _____________________________________________________________________ ####################################################### Here is my Hijack log Part One (continued in another post): _____________________________________________________________________ Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 2:01:42 PM, on 1/7/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16574) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\AvidSDMService.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere\awhost32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\bgsvcgen.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Drivers\MMERefresh.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\PSIService.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Tablet.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\WTablet\TabUserW.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Tablet.exe C:\Program Files\DynDNS Updater\DynDNS.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Program Files\SyncroSoft\Pos\H2O\cledx.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\PowerISO\PWRISOVM.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\DeltaIITray.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Acrotray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\ASUS\AI Gear2\GearHelp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Linksys EasyLink Advisor\LinksysAgent.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\MESSEN~1\ymsgr_tray.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\FNPLicensingService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe C:\Program Files\mIRC\mirc.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\usnsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe ________________________________________________________________________________ ####################################################### ____________________________________________________________________________ Due to the character count limit, I cannot post my full logs here. Besides the analysis of the HJThis log, will this thread help? http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=32487.msg271641#msg271641 If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you could follow the general cleaning procedure: 1. Disable System Restore on Windows ME or Windows XP. System Restore cannot be disabled on Windows 9x and it's not available in Windows 2k. After boot you can enable System Restore again after step 3. 2. Clean your temporary files. You can use CleanUp or the Windows Advanced Care features for that. 3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot. Other option is scanning in SafeMode (repeatedly press F8 while booting). 4. It will be good if you download, install, update and run AVG Antispyware. Some users recommend SUPERantispyware, Spyware Terminator and/or a-squared (take care about false positives). If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than. 5. If you still detecting any strange behavior or even you're sure you're not clean, maybe it will be good to test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest AVG or Trend Micro RootkitBuster (for XP/Vista). For XP: Panda (for XP). 6. Also, if you still detecting strange behaviors or you want to be sure you're clean, maybe making a HijackThis log to post here and, specially, scan and submit to on-line analysis the RunScanner log would help to identify the problem and the solution. 7. After you're clean, use the immunization of SpywareBlaster or, which is better, the Windows Advanced Care features of spyware/adware cleaning and removal. 8. Finally, when you're clean, check for insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector to update insecure applications and avoid reinfection. |
