Hi all, I can confirm that the Fake E-store Protection is part of the "regular" Web Shield protection. There isn't any specific setting associated with this feature. Sorry for the confusion!

Thank you. And what about the survey?

Sorry, didn't see this question. This is an uninstallation survey - it's only shown on the uninstall screen.

Would be handy if the initial post by "IvanM" was edited to reflect that.

Thank you and good day!

Can I assume this is only when you uninstall "regularly" and not using the Avast clear tool? Because I have uninstalled and re-installed using the Avastclear tool a few times since the latest update and haven't gotten the survey yet.

Hi Support,

It took me few hours to figure that the feature "Real Site" is the issue that blocked the Twitch.tv from viewing live stream.

There is not even a way to set exception in the application. Please advise why is this so? I don't find this feature any helpful though.

I got a popup on my screen from Avast this AM showing I needed to restart my PC.
I don't know why because I haven't installed the latest version yet.  I do manual updates. I didn't restart and I'm not going to.

It could be a update to the AV engine, these arrive with VPS updates

What would have been really helpful would have been a screenshot of that

EDIT: My Avast Free version is set to Manual Updates and I have had no such notification to restart.
What Program version and build number do you have.
Mine: 23.11.6090 (build 23.11.8635.809) - UI Version number 1.0.791

I get those pop ups out of the blue from time to time saying my laptop needs to be restarted,  it's usual for updates to take effect,  that what it tells me.

I rarely if ever get these notifications, outside of Program Updates which I have set to manual.
I understand why this is required, in order for services with system permissions in order to update then the system has to be restarted.

What would be helpful would be what your settings are for both Program and VPS updates
Some program updates could come in the form of an emergency update (bug fix, etc.) that happen outside of the regular program updates.  VPS updates can also deliver Engine Update which may also require a system restart to take effect.

If I've read you right,  in the interface,   Menu > settings > update,     virus definitions and my Avast premium security are set to automatic.   When I've booted up my laptop,  an automatic update may happen, then I get a pop up box saying this has taken place and now I'm thinking about it,   this box tells me it has been updated with a list of the features that have been updated,  with this one it is informative not requiring action from me to do a restart.     When I have had one that requires a restart,   I've just followed the prompts,   will take more notice next time one happens to see if it is an emergency update for a bug fix etc.

Yes, that is in effect the default setting.
I have Program Updates set to manual (as a regular forum I know when they are released and if there anything that impacts me) that way nothing is downloaded in the background.

Note: on Automatic, the Update happens in the background (when one is available), but it needs a system restart for these changes to be applied.  Then you see what you mentioned, the details on the update.  You could set Program Updates to Notify, so you are aware one is available and then manually apply it at a time convenient to you and then do a system restart after the update.

If I change the option from ' Automatically update my virus definitions' to  'Remind me when an update is available' in the interface,  I presume I will be given the option to update when I choose in this notice when and I am going to say 'if' a reminder arrives.

I'm not suggesting that for the VPS updates which are much smaller, and far more frequent, but for Program Updates.

Lets assume that you get 10 VPS updates in a day, you wouldn't want a reminder every time that occurs when using your system.

A Reminder is just that, it doesn't take any action, you get a reminder, you manually update when ready.
I don't set VPS Updates to Remind, but leave on Automatic as for the most part this won't entail a restart.
