Trying to unsubscribe to VPN

I find I no longer need VPN protection and have asked Avast to unsubscribe my account. BUT they keep sending me bulletins telling me its expired.  EVERY DAY.  Numerous times a day.  I'm not a computer expert.  These are NOT emails, but Pop up on my laptop even when I am not connected to the web.  How do I request them to stop?
