The need for VPN subscription if I am using Avast Secure Browser
« on: February 03, 2024, 02:51:30 PM »
Good day all,

I recently subscribed to Avast Secure Browser, which am happy to continue using.

A question arises that I am hoping someone can answer:

Do I need to continue my subscription for Avast VPN App separately from Avast Secure Browser VPN option?

Thank youEXMN

Ken

Whilst I don't use either products Avast Secure Browser(ASB) or Avast VPN.
See - https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/secure-browser-faq/#vpn

The ASB does have a VPN as far as I'm aware so this FAQ article may help with your decision.

Secure Browser VPN, available in Secure Browser PRO, is an advanced security feature that fully encrypts your online activity, loads web pages faster, and gives you access to over 30 locations worldwide. Avast Secure Browser automatically connects to the optimal location to disguise your location.

This extract from the FAQ mentions 'Secure Browser PRO' which I would have to believe is different to Avast Secure Browser.

As I understand, if well I also no use those products, Avast browser is a browser with a vpn extension, so you can activate it but only work for the Avasr browser
VPN as standalone product, is for all your pc, mean all other programs not only the browser. Per example to watch netflix content blocked at your country (using Netflix app)

Exactly what you said, one product is different from the other. one is for the browser, the other is for the PC and its programs.

This is confusing.

Avast should simply just offer one product : SecureLine VPN.

I have no Idea, but cost is a likely reason. A full blown unrestricted VPN rather than a restricted one.

I believe Avast One has a VPN function, but I think that is restricted to 5GB.

Yep.

See attached below re the restricted offer (trial-based, Avast browser only) vs. Avast Secureline VPN

Attached is for PRO version of Avast Secure Browser only.

https://www.avast.com/secure-browser-pro#pc

Avast One offers a VPN but as DavidR says, free version has a 5GB limit.
