Weekly Avast Updates

I travel quite a bit and only get to update Avast about once a week.  The updates are rather large but so far I have not experienced any problems.  I am curious as to whether this will have any negative effects.

If you're not connected to the Internet in that days, the fact of non being updated won't harm. The size of the update files will vary a little if you update on-line. Are you downloading the vpsupd.exe file to update the computer? Or, on contrary, you just connect the Internet and update?

So, it shouldn't take that long.
You could configure avast to automatic download when a connection is established. Update (connections) tab of settings has these options.
