Why have both avast and AVG online security extensions NOT been updated for years? This creates a security risk due to out dated code they are running in browsers avast should defiantly look into this!

Personally I have never installed this add-on:

But don't lose site of the fact that the full Avast Antivirus is running in the background 'on your system'.

I get that but you are missing my point...... Avast and avg both suggest that users install this onto browsers and if avast/avg as a company wants to discontinue it they should remove it out of the product!!!! It's out of date and potentially putting users " at risk" and if avast/avg cares they will find a solution to this problem.  Of course people are going to install it when the trustful security product tells them to.

I disagree about risk as I would guess that any sites flagged by the add-on are also likely to have the Web Shield cover the site.

That said I don't use the product as I don't feel it brings much to the party and I don't feel I'm at higher risk. I also felt it messed withe the search results layout.

Now Browser add-ons for the most part would be auto updated, but the most important part in the case of  of the would be its signature/site list.   I'm not even sure

What would change in the Interface is cosmetic, what needs to be kept up to date would be the site list.

If you feel it is out of date do as you suggest and remove it.
