VPN does not work in bank authentication
« on: April 03, 2024, 03:18:01 PM »

VPN does not work in bank authentication.

This is really tiring because this type of identification is used in many other applications as well. Every time you have to authenticate, the VPN must be turned off for the duration of the authentication. And in the bank's app, it must be off all the time.

What good is this VPN if you can't keep it on all the time. During this time, the network is open everywhere.

I have tried using the option "Trusted sites" but this does not work.

Is the only option to switch to another VPN program?

No I believe that's not your issue.

What browser are you using to connect to your online bank account?

What VPN?

Default VPN network connections should be/are public.

If one uses any VPN, you will encounter issues such as your printer will not print, other computers, phones, NAS's on your (home?) network will not be visible or accessible unless you change your VPN network from public to private.  Sometimes it is necessary to restart your system in order to have that public to private firewall setting to take effect.

VPN network settings should always be set to public for greatest privacy and security reasons.

What is a public network?:  https://www.howtogeek.com/245982/whats-the-difference-between-private-and-public-networks-in-windows/

If you read about private and public settings as described in this website, you should have a clearer understanding what a public network connection does (which is what a good VPN provides) and why you should not conduct your online banking business with a private connection.
  • There is a setting in Windows 11 (and presumably in Windows 10) that will show what your current network connection is.  See attached below.
  • Windows recommends your network connections always be Public.  See attached below.
My recommendation is to use Avast Secure Browser to conduct your financial business with your VPN on.

If I try to connect to my bank online using, say Firefox and my VPN, the online session is denied.

If I use Avast Secure Browser and my VPN, it works.
