Work With Routers/Modems - SurfShark and NordVPN already do
« on: September 05, 2024, 05:16:19 AM »
I am really getting to the point where this is no longer some fancy thing I can maybe do without.

I live in Utah, which has various restrictions that are all religiously based.  I have devices that DO NOT have Avast to install (VR gear, etc.).

This is becoming a MUST to be able to work with my router in the same streamlined method/interface both SurfShark and NordVPN do.

I can't choose which apps use VPN or which will bypass.  This is VERY important now days as some apps DO NOT allow VPN but I don't want to disable it completely. Both SurfShark and NordVPN are capable of this.

I am not trying to market for either of these two other providers, I have no savings code to offer.  Yet they are the current example that Avast used to hold.

I can't think of any excuse for a security company to be so far behind.

I hope you are just busy in the drawing board making this already happen as if not, this is my last year subscribing to Avast One if it cannot maintain all the security requirements a modern user needs.  It is silly to subscibe to two different providers for the same services.. mostly.

Please reply with good news and not the same we already know:

Hi,
Avast SecureLine VPN service doesn't officially support routers configuration (contrary to our other brand HideMyAss). The Windows and Android clients use OpenVPN protocol for a connection to gateways, iOS and macOS use IPsec. If your router supports one of these protocols, it should be possible to configure the VPN connection using credentials from a desktop/mobile device. PPTP isn't supported. As an inspiration you can follow https://support.hidemyass.com/hc/en-us/articles/202720956-Router-VPN-configuration-Getting-started guide.

Best Regards,
Martin

Here is another example of this request, at least that's what I gathered from what they are trying to ask for. This is a feature in other AV security providers solutions, just not Avast.

I hope this is addressed with the haste it deserves (being the thread below is kinda old.)

Since there are millions of Amazon devices in the world, I would like to request an official app to support Avast SecureLine VPN on Amazon devices
Don't understand why it does not exist
Competitors already offer it
would be great
Thanks
Tom

This would also be required to implement In Avast ONE VPN features.
