AAVM - scanning error: and warning after programm update
« on: January 29, 2008, 09:24:05 AM »
Ver. 4.7.859
Running on Windows 2003 Server x64 SP2
with Terminal Services.
Its now running for about 2 years without any problems.

Since the last Programm update from 19th Dec. I get error and warning logs
every time a user or admin opens a file over a network path.

[TERMINAL1]: AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: avfilesScanReal of ...[\\server\filepath...]...  failed, 00000005
[TERMINAL1]: AAVM - scanning warning: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx [UNI]: ...[\\server\filepath...]...   returning error, 00000005.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Hi Inno,

Remove Avast and reinstall...don't apply the update.

I've had issues since the update (Exchange Store crashing, weird errors like the ones you mentioned, etc) and I removed and reinstalled Avast last night and did not install the update - so far so good and not a single problem!  There are other recent posts all pointing to the possibility of bugs being introduced in the December update.

BTW, is the path in the error true and correct?  I seemed to have some duplication within the UNC path (eg \\server\share\server\share\directory\... ).

I had no bug type issues before the update and am more than happy to remain old the old version for the sake of stability.

I was tempted to do a full install (rather than upgrade) of 4.7.859 but the negative forum feedback on this version turned me off.  I had a limited window to work in and went the safety first approach.  I'll try 4.7.859 in a couple of months time, but I'm not in a rush.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi mfeodoroff and all with same problems,

I've got an answer from avast support, and it looks very good.  ;D
Replaced the sys-file, restart the Server opened all files mentioned in the last error msg. , and no error-logs or mails.

Best regards
Inno

I'll watch the server for the next days, and let you know if its realy fixed.

Here is the Mail:

 ???

Sorry it is not completely fixed.
Most of the errors are gone, but still get errors opening
*.doc and *.rtf formated files.

Waiting for the avast support answer.
