« on: February 06, 2008, 04:45:16 AM »
how should i interpret the "unable to scan" entries shown in avast3  attachment? how can i decide whether they are potentially dangerous (i have no idea what the orange-boxed gobbledygook files are)?

 :)  Hi Neal :

     Your Question and the 1st "Image" you Posted are answered in the "FAQ"
     I told you about in the "Private Message" you sent me, specifically at
     http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=33147.0 .

     The 2nd "Image" of Avast's GUI indicates you have NOT "activated" our
     "VRDB" ( Virus Recovery Data Base ) and it would be wise to do so ;
     RIGHT-click the "a" Icon in the System Tray ( like you do to go to the
     "Log Viewer" ) and select "VRDB", then select "Generate VRDB Now" and
      soon thereafter select one of the 2 Settings below it .
