Avast did not detect zonebak trojan
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:59:35 AM »
I was unsuccessful using Avast to scan, detect and remove the zonebak trojan I knew was on my system.  (Windows Malicious Software detection tool told me it was.)  I ended up using the free Norton Security scan to detect and remove.

You could send the file to virus (at) avast.com for analysis (please, do a link to this thread in the email body).

Also, I suggest:

1. Disable System Restore and reenable it after step 3.
2. Clean your temporary files.
3. Use SUPERantispyware and/or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or, better, submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
6. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
7. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
