I need an exception for Avast to scan
« on: February 23, 2008, 07:13:30 PM »
I want to download the Alexa toolbar, but Avast keeps preventing me from doing so. How do I make an exception so it won't scan this program?

Thanks.

It doesn't allow it because it is classed as adware and avast isn't alone in that view. Personally there must be other toolbars that do what you wish without being classed adware.

To first download it you may need to pause the web shield provider if that is what is alerting (abort connection).

You can (If you are hell bent on installing it) add it to the exclusions lists:
Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add and
Program Settings, Exclusions
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Welcome to the forums, msdobe.    :)

I fail to understand why anyone would want to download the Alexa toolbar or almost any other program associated with Alexa. Can you please tell us why you would want to do this?
