JanP,
Scot specifically mentioned that the version he based his decision on was the Pro version.  :)

Right.
On the other hand, Matousec mentions free version in hist test.
The main difference between the two is comfort in using (free does not update automatically, has less possibilities for setting rules etc.), the level of protection is the same.

As you for sure remember, I said that user's feeling is very important at product selection and thus level of comfort can mean a lot. I myself prefer security - that's what the firewall function is, after all - and so I have selected OA. After testing and using many others (Kerio, Outpost, Comodo, even Jetico for a while).

BTW, is there a difference in security level between paid and free Avast? I hope not...

NO  :)
The pro version allows a greater ease in setting up many functions and configurations but the protection
is the same.

Well... Script Blocker is only present on Pro...
But, like Bob said, generally the differences are on features, configurability, scheduling...

Thanks Bob and Tech.

I am not so much familiar with Avast. I started to use it some three years ago, then I got an opportunity to install paid NOD32 which I used till now, when licence expired. Tried AVG but did not like the vast limitations for free version (you can set nothing with free Avg) and installed Avast (again). So far I like it so much that I even switched off web and mail shields in Online Armor and activated Avast shields for this role.

I think that Avast together with OA and Opera will be my final security solution.

And, btw, do you know that OA has so called banking mode in which only URLs you declare as protected can be accesssed? You set that once and forget about phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks when working with your account - something fantastic! I did not find this with any other firewall (to keep the theme of the post) :-)

Comodo Firewall 3.0.21.329 released
See link for more details: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html
--------------

FIXED! CFP.exe could be terminated using EndTask API
FIXED! When the firewall alerts were disabled, all the traffic was blocked

Seems the battle between Comodo 3 Firewall Pro and OA over leak tests is over ???

Comodo 3.0 all the way. The HIPS protection along with Avast 4.8 is awesome.

That doesn't speak well for Comodo. It will hurt their reputation. IMHO

You need to read the topic lurkingatu2 gave and Bob quoted, as they have licensed the comodo firewall engine, but it still doesn't look good.

It would appear/seem that the old saying "money speaks louder than words" is evident in this case?  :D
