Acronis backup file detected as a Virus
« on: March 05, 2008, 12:09:17 PM »
Just did a scan and Avast said that a Acronis backup file
named Myback.tib was infected with Win32:WimAD-I [trj]

This would have to be a false reading.

Maybe it will. Did you scan your computer? Are you clean?
Maybe you can add .tib file to the avast exclusion lists.

Yes its clean, yes i could, but a .tib is the extention used by acronis for backups.

Avast should take it off the malware list.

They know that...

Avast should take it off the malware list.
Well... avast does not scan *only* files with suspicious extension, but all of them, viruses could easily by-pass the real file extension.
