"Patch Tuesday" for XP
« on: March 14, 2008, 05:12:02 PM »
Was it just me, or was March's Patch Tuesday this week very skimpy?  For my XP (SP2), all I was offered was the monthly Malware removal tool.

Admittedly I don't have anything from Office on my system, and it sounds like that's what most of this month's security updates related to.
Intel Atom D2700, 2 gig RAM, Win 7 x64 SP1 & IE-11, Firefox 51.0
(default). 320 gig HD, 15Mb DSL, Win firewall, Avast 12.3.2280 free, SpywareBlaster, MBAM Prem., Crypto-Prevent

There were only three critical updates and most will miss out depending on what flavour of MS Office they have.

Quote from: shavlic.com
Critical
MS08-014
Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Excel Could Allow Remote Code Execution (949029)
MS08-015
Vulnerability in Microsoft Outlook Could Allow Remote Code Execution(949031)
MS08-016
Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Could Allow Remote Code Execution (949030)
MS08-017*
Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Web Components Could Allow Remote Code Execution (933103)

*Note: MS08-017 - Support for MS08-017 affecting Office 2000 SP3 is not in this XML release because this patch is not available from Microsoft at this time. When this patch becomes available, Shavlik will add this to the XML.

Since I have no flavor of MS Office on my XP SP2 computer, I got the same as Mike did.

I suppose this is a good thing.    :)
