I give you an idea of what I have aboard FF: Stealther, ABP, NoScript, Cookie Extension Manager, CookieCuller, User Agent, ViewAll JS, Netcraft, finjan and siteadvisor, DrWeb's hyperlink checker plug-in, Tamper Data, Show IP and ServerSpy, Distrust to mention the really important ones, TrackMeNot,

Definitely overkill. 2 cookie related extensions? And do you really change your useragent string so often ?

Netcraft-finjan-siteadvisor AND serverspy?? And showip with this??

And why do you use distrust , when you already have stealther? The later is far better for privacy purposes.. The later merely removes stuff , and not by secure methods i would add.

and you really need proxy related extensions ....



Still i must say, at my most paranoid, I still beat you .. though my extensions are better chosen so they don't quite overlap so much...

me on my end just cautious where i go and surf and do....but don't need tons of extensions and background stuff running to do it-just knowing what the few best extensions and programs there are and that should be just fine

and i run avast!home-pctools plus firewall-winpatrol plus-spywareblaster 4.0-superantispyware as a scanner and spywareterminator as realtime-and ccleaner and webroot's window washer to clean all the left over garbage
everyone once and a while i run the kaspersky and bitdefender online virus program....

Impress me, how paranoid are you?

I in no way meant this as a challenge (although online and offline I'm quite paranoid), my security software probably isn't as layered as yourself or polonus, if anything I'm developing a bit of arrogance online these days.

However i do still l insist on verifying all hyperlinks and scanning all unknown domains as a rule of thumb, also i check for software updated patch to all of my software every day (i confess i enjoy checking aswell  )

I could go into every little detail and software, but i don't see the relevance when we will just disagree

Hi malware fighters,

Everyone could have some overlapping extensions in browser security that work for him or her. One eats a lot of carrots, the other is an onion type, and I like to have both like "hutspot", and it is a lovely old Dutch meal with thin flank (klapstuk), with Extended Cookie Manager I have various option for allowing cookies or not, with Cookie Culler I have various options toward protecting cookies, two different things, and to lee19's question I like to add, only scan where you are in doubt or have a reason to doubt, and I always check before I download any program,

Some of my systems are indeed very layered, just for the fun of it.... But some of pretty minimal. So far, it doesn't seem to make a difference...

Well, that's normal. There is a typical pattern for "security hobbyists", they start off paranoid, then as they learn more and they slowly realize that they need less and less crap to protect themselves...

The former is indeed paranoid. So if i post a link to some domain, you run it through a dozen link checkers? Personally, I tend to believe that with the right precautions, visiting a malicious site, isn't going to get you nailed.. (Unless you are dumb enough to download and run stuff of course).

Disagree about what? I was just wondering what "paranoid" passes for here...
