Help something isn't quite right!
« on: March 19, 2008, 05:43:24 PM »
I need help!  Yesterday I downloaded Avast. It woked fine.  Later it said I should remove any old anti virus (I did, I dumped Norton). after that I tried to use my Yahoo Instant Message and I was able to type and send but it didn't show what was sent.  It did get recieved on the other end. The other end typed, the orange buzzer buzzed but no typing showed up on my end. Almost as though there is some kind of block for incoming??   Also I am not able to access any of my banking accounts anymore.  Frustrated  dumped Avast hoping that would solve the problem. It hasn't!   My regular e mail is working fine but my Yahoo account isn't working like it did before.    Is there a quick fix?  How frustrating.    In the meantime I felt I needed some protection so I downloaded Windows Live Onecare.  H E L P !!!

Norton is notorious for remnants left behind after an uninstall.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

Lets see if getting rid of Norton completely resolves any of these other issues.

After running the Norton removal tool it may be best to reinstall avast, as the original probably didn't install fully. avast would have disabled elements to avoid any conflict with Norton, which could possibly have locked your system.
