Help me
« on: March 20, 2008, 01:23:32 AM »
My brother installed a software last night ( Kaspersky Internet Security ) while Avast! (beta) was on for some unknown reason and it automatically tried to uninstall it while it was on corrupting it. so i tried system restores, safe mode deletion and pretty much everything.  then when i deleted all traces of Avast i installed avast again and this time it wont update, its version says 4.7.1147 like its the beta/regular version. so is there ANY way to fix this or am i doomed to use the OS disk.

If KIS is still on the system this could impact on the re-installation of avast.

I don't know what version of KIS you have, this is a clean-up tool after you have used add remove programs. This is for KIS6 Removal - http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/kis6/kiskav6remove.zip. You could probably insert the version number to replace the 6 in the above URL if you have a different version.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I can't even uninstall it, because when i click to remove it it says setiface error:3 so its just sitting there. UGHHH the Avast utility uninstaller doesn't work. nothing does.... i swear i am five minutes from taking a bat to my computer.

Hopefully, someone will be able to help you soon ... perhaps someone from the avast team will be able to help.

Try to boot in Safe Mode and run the uninstaller tool from there.

Yes Tech i did that, now when i reinstall it, it still does not work.  Like I said it must be something in the registry that wont/cant be deleted.

Ok, I know where the problem is located.  Its in the registry BUT i cannot delete avast from the registry safe mode or not.  The avast uninstaller wont even do it even in safe mode.  SO Vlk or anyone who knows how to delete undeleteable registry please tell me how and what avasts registry names are.
