Nope, I don't use Windows Defender and any others in the list above.
I only have SpywareDoctor, Avast!, and windows firewall...none others.

Maybe it is just removing the startup item of avast...

I've just become an Avast user and had a similar problem. My cure was reboot and never close the On-Access Protection Control window with the RED X, only click OK.
Thanks for the forum, will be looking in often until I get the hang of this product

Is the reboot always done repeatedly? or was it only once and then the problem is cleared?


Does anyone know how, in the first place, this problem (tray icon gone) occurred to some computers like mine, or Skywarrior's? cause I've been using Avast quite a while till this problem happened.

No I only had to reboot the one time and quit clicking the red x to close. Now always click the OK button
