error updating
« on: March 20, 2004, 11:10:14 AM »

Hello All. I have my avast! set to automatic update and about half and hour ago I received a red pop-up screen that stated there was an error in updating.

I proceeded into my administrator account and tried to update from there, but instead the "download packages" page freezes.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks.

Could be this by a lot of reasons: server down, your ISP problem, Internet traffic...

Can you check if your firewall settings (if any) were ok?
Can you try manual update right now? Does it work?  ;)

Dick,

Do us a favor....
Post the "instructions" from tech support so other users can share in their knowledge.   (and me too.  ;)

Was it Avast Tech Support via email?
If so, which Avast Team member responded?

Thanks

I'm not sure and don't want to be unfare but, sometimes, we will be pleased to see the tecnical support of avast! posted here and helping us do not have to 'discover' all the tricks by ourselves... There are a lot of threats now that are being 'solved' by email and we cannot learn from them...

If I'm wrong, please, correct me. Better with facts than just words  ;D
