Can you post which steps did you follow? It could be a good improvement for my BART CD too.
Thanks.

taking a usb key of 1gb (>160 mb)

- make the iso of the new bart cd.
- Extract files from iso (with winrar,winiso...) into a directory
- use the program pe2usb  (http://gocoding.com/page.php?al=petousb)
the program format and copy the files from the directory

after that I have a bootable usb key whith bart .Working fine on all machines i've tested. The only problem is salamander ,the copy protection need maybe some kind of media type , not for hdd or usb key.

Just a hint to Vista users. Right click the PeToUsb.exe file and run it in elevated rights.
Now formating and copying the BartCD to USB... Wow...

Hmmm... it does not work on Vista... It's looking for ntldr
Quote
PeToUSB does not make the device DOS bootable, it makes it XP
bootable (ie: the bootstrap code will look for NTLDR).
Need to find anything Vista-compatible...

OO Vista ?

Bart cd boot on its own Os , and it is windows xp (or somethink like it)?

I have made some tests on Xp's and windows 2000 , same results .Imho vista is not  the problem.

but your salamander is vista ok , maybe you only need to upgrade the version to min 2.53.

Altap Salamander 2.53

    * Full Windows Vista support (UAC elevation prompts).
    * Switch to a newer version of the compiler (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008).
    * Both 32 and 64 bit versions to bypass WOW64 limitations.

If you need a salamander like there is total commander www.ghisler.com/accueil.htm vista compliant to.

Yes, it is. Seems that ntldr (used by boot XP/2k) is needed. Vista has a different boot method, incompatible with XP/2k one. Did you manage to install BART CD in a usb key and used it to boot a Vista computer?

no , the computers used with bart Cd have NT/2000/XP/EMB XP not vista .
We have a application running in restaurants , an we need to be Reliable.

then it is not a problem if that do not work on vista (You have 5 years to find a solution for vista  :) )

This will install Vista from an USB... I want something that allows me to boot from it and use BART CD to access my Vista partition... that seems to be impossible due to Vista boot is not allowed from a removable drive... while booting from an USB drive I can't access my Vista installation with BART CD.

Hi Tech,

Vista wont start installation on a USB interface no matter what. It is embedded in its OS which
I wasn't able to track down. Like to hear from people who could engineer around it?

Vista wont start installation
Again, I don't want to install Vista... I want to boot and run BART CD from an USB drive.
