avast protection

hi i heard that avast can't protect my registry windows from virus and spyware is that true? avast only detect files virus or spyware, not in the registry is that true?

The registry entries are not malicious per se, so I don't see any point in detecting them.

The files pointed by registry keys are detected.
The cleaning procedure of avast will correct (clean) the registry key as well the files.
