Need a bit of help
« on: April 13, 2008, 04:28:49 AM »
Is there a way to set avast to automatically "move to chest"? I normally sleep or go to school while I run my AVs, I don't like having to sit in front of my computer for 2-4 hours clicking "Move to Chest" every time something comes us.

I'm running Avast 4.8 Home edition

I know if you open up the setup before executing a Boot Time scan from the Simple User Interface, you can select "Advanced Options" and change the default action to "Move infected file to Chest."

Hope that helps.  Unless you have critical programs that need to be run while you're away from keyboard, running scans before Windows starts also allows easier removal of viruses, trojans, or other malicious code not loaded into memory.

Or if you don't want to do a boottime scan, you could place an iecar test file near the location where avast starts the scan. When avast detects it, check the "don't show me this again" box and click no action. The scan will continue to the end, at which time a report will be made, allowing you to take action later.
