Switch to avast! managed
« on: March 20, 2006, 03:46:23 PM »
We are currently running avast server + avast professional on our network.
We would like to switch to the ADNM.
Do we have to remove the unmanaged client from the desktops, or will the installation of the netclient do this?

You can install the netclient/netserver edition on top of the existing pro/server installations.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.

Hello,

I've a problem with this!

I've wan't to know if it is possible to install managed clients (AVast Pro) over unmanaged clients by using the ADNM-manager.

In the knowledgebase I've found an article: Just install as there is a new installation. But it won't work for my situation.
Get a failure: Status: failed(0x00000005)

The log tells me:
..........
04/17/08 11:13:43:   WS-RASA-36: CreateService C:\~AVINSTL\aswISvc.exe error 5 (Access is denied)
04/17/08 11:13:43:   WS-RASA-36: RemoveOnError
04/17/08 11:13:43:   WS-RASA-36: RemoveFolder \\WS-RASA-36\C$\~AVINSTL
04/17/08 11:13:43:   WS-RASA-36: CloseConnection
04/17/08 11:13:44:   WS-RASA-36: Finished with error
04/17/08 11:13:44:   TerminateAll
04/17/08 11:13:44:   rinstInstall end 0

Tried the domain admin and the local admin (ws) but it won't work.
Just normal deployment on workstations without antivirussoftware works fine.

It seems te be a login failure. But which level must I use?

So.....help me.

You can install the netclient/netserver edition on top of the existing pro/server installations.

When you install over top of existing pro installations, I have found that the old Avast plugin (when using Outlook 2003) is not removed completely and gives you an error when opening outlook. To fix this, go to Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced Options -> Add-in Manager and uncheck the first Avast! 4 box (there will be two of those listed).
