Vbs Malware-gen on my pc please help.

Hi I had a abs malware-gen on my pc I did a scan with avast and put it in the virus chest the virus was found in file c: a.oat file size 5894 is it safe for me to delete it please ? Thanks Rick1.

We generally advise that such things be left in the chest for at least 2 weeks. At the end of that 2 weeks (or longer if you like), you should then right click the file in the chest and choose scan. The 2 week waiting period is to make sure there is no adverse effects from moving the file to the chest. If the file is still reported as infected when using the right click in the chest, you can then delete it if there have been no adverse effects during the 2 week period. Or, you can leave it there indefinitely as it can do no harm while in the chest.
