I believe the avast team are a very impressive bunch so I have faith that they will come up with something when we have pinpointed all the details.

Dypsis,

so now, you have WebShield enabled, Script blocked disabled, redirected port disabled (by changing it to 88), proxy server configured to 127.0.0.1:12080 in IE and you can browse the web normally? Am I right ?

And you are saying, that changing the redirected port back to 80 with proxy server still configured brings the troubles back?

Thats very strange to me, since with the proxy server configured, IE should not connect to port 80 at all, so the redirected port value should not make a difference.

lukor have you seen Alan's Topic about the web shield in the Evangelists area ?

If not I think it worth a read as this could very well be an example of what Alan is on about.

David, I have seen Alan's thread. Very interresting, however that would probably match if the WebShield wouldn't be scanning anything. I can hardly see how exactly would that apply to this specific situation - where WebShield enabled via redirect or even Script blocker causes no-connection at all.

Dypsis, could you please test again with redirect enabled, (redirect port=80), proxy server empty and without the scanning component loaded - unchecked the "Enable Web Scanning" checkbox ?

Thanks lukor, we will have to see where Alan is going with this when he awakes.

As of last night, I had everything enabled using proxies, but I ran into problems accessing internet radio, so I am currently back to running avast! with Script Blocking and Web Shield disabled.

In the web shield, customize, Basic, Ignored addresses, you can add the IP address for your internet radio.

Hey y'all, I've been having a very similar problem in this thread here,

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=30860.0;topicseen

I'm not quite as technologically advanced as some of y'all,
probably know just enough to really screw things up
but if any of y'all would take the time to read the other thread
and come up with any ideas I'd really appreciate the help.

Until then I'll be monitering both threads to see what to try next. (within my abilities)

Hi Dypsis,

can you please try to import the following registry file?

http://public.avast.com/~rypacek/aswrdr-automatic.reg

Does that make any difference?

(please note, you'll have to disable avast! self protection - in the troubleshooting page of settings dialog - to be able to do that)

Thanks a lot.
Lukas.

:-( hmm. Have you restarted since then? I assume yes. Well actually I was just trying to eliminate the load-order hypothesis... we'll try to come up with something better.

dypsis, would you be willing to allow one of our engineers to remotely log on to your system?
I'm quite sure that this way, the problem would be solved quite quickly (it would be +- equivalent to having the problem simulated here).

Thanks
Vlk

Yes mate.

But it is almost 8:00PM on ANZAC Day here in Australia, so now is not a good time.  8)

But I am happy to let you do that.

I appreciate your willingness to help.

As I have said before. I love this AV, but I am forced to run it with 2 providers (Web Shield, Script Blocking) disabled.

Okie dokie. It doesn't have to be today, of course. Enjoy the ANZAC day!

BTW to connect to your system, it may be necessary to tweak your router settings, and/or use a different method than stadard Remote Desktop (e.g. the remote access system provided by logmein.com).

Is that a problem?
Have you tried that before?

Thanks
Vlk
