Speed improvement is only one of the reasons for updating your system.
Security improvements to me are much more important and should be your main reason
for updating Windows XP to the latest version.
Exactly! But even if SP3 makes XP running a bit slower than with SP2 installed, it will still be faster than Vista. XP runs lightning fast on my laptop (ditched Vista finally), and I am looking forward to SP3 just because of all security add-ons. I am aware that it won't bring us any cosmetic or significant performance changes, but at least running XP will be more secure than before.
