Why can the avast  find the virus while scanning, but not find with the guard?????

Decompress some virus from archives, the guard is not warning. but when scanning ,the virus can be found and deleted,  why ??????I was just wondering about it.

The Resident Protection (Standard Shield, etc) and Manual (on-demand) Scanner serve different purposes and are consequently configured differently.
The Manual Scan is more thorough by default. in terms of the type of file inspected, the depth of unpacking, etc, because its impact on system speed does not have to be accommodated in real-time.

avast can detect it in both states, the difference is that on-access (resident) it will drop your performance, so a lower level of protection is used. When the virus tries to activate itself, then avast caught it.
