Schedule Boot Scan: Disabled?
« on: April 22, 2008, 09:16:37 AM »
I have juust installed Avast and I want to run a boot scan.
Trouble is, it's disabled in the context menu of the interface?
Anyone know why and how i can run it now?!

Thanks

(p.s. I'm on Vista Ultimate x64)

Yes, that's right, I'm afraid.
The boot-time scanner is currently not available on 64bit platforms.

I thought that might be what it was :(
I assume there are plans to add it in a future version?

General plans, yes... but nothing in particular right now. It's kind of a technical challenge...

Oh right...
How is it so much different? I mean, it used to run effectively when you get into windows just before anything has loaded in the x86 version didnt it? Is the way windows boots substantially different in the x64 version or something?

Not really - it's just that some important parts of the scanner are 32bit, and it's not easy to make them execute in 64bit somehow.
