Virtumonde infection
« on: April 26, 2008, 12:01:06 PM »
Hello!

I use Avast Home Latest Edition with all available shield.
My system is infected with Virtumonde malware. Spybot SD detect it.
Avast don't detect the infection with a working resident shield.
How can it be?

Thanks

Can you send the detected file to virus (at) avast (dot) com for analysis?
Maybe avast fails on detection of this particular sample or, maybe, it's a false positive from Spybot.
Do you have any other antispyware tool installed? SuperAntispyware or SpywareTerminator?
Did you run avast at boot time?

Virtumonde/Vundo is a very prolific piece of malware which is constantly changing variants in the attempt to keep ahead of AVs, etc.

So as Tech suggests send the sample (zipped and password protected) to avast to improve detections.
