Flashget and other queries
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:07:12 PM »
Hi,

A few questions.

1)Is Flashget safe or is it a trojan? I read somewhere that it might be installed by a backdoor trojan. If so I need to get rid of it.

2)I'm having problems with access violations messages now and again with Spybot S&D, including when I shut down. The latest one:

"Access violation at address 004B6BF9 in module 'teatimer.exe'.Read of address 00000010."

Do I need to worry?

Grateful for help.

Flashget is consider as an adware for more than just one antivirus.
Anyway, it shouldn't be producing a teatimer problem...
What happens if you try to reinstall spybot?
By the way, try Free Download Manager instead.

Hi Tech,

Sorry I forgot to mention that the questions are unrelated, so the Flashget question has nothing to do with problems on Spybot S&D.

On Flashget, if I had it a long time, do I need to worry?

Separately on Spybot S&D, the problems seemed to start only when installing or uninstalling programs, or disabling applications. Should I reinstall or is this a software bug?

I've dropped it some years ago... I also consider it as adware.

I'm not an expert on Spybot, but, generally, reinstalling will give us a fresh condition to troubleshoot.

OK will have to do that later as I have something to attend to away from the computer that will take some time.

Will update maybe tomorrow.

If you try a forum search for spybot and access violation there has recently (today or yesterday) been a topic about this S&D problem. I'm not sure if it is/was OS related.

What is your OS ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Apologies to everyone.

Have been busy and am only now able to get back on the computer.

DavidR, I could not find the post you referred to.

My OS is WinXPSP2.

Strange I can't find it either now and I wasn't dreaming about having seen it.

So all I can think of was that it might have been about SpywareBlaster, not Spybot sorry.

It's OK.

If anyone has a solution please let me know.

I might also look to see if there are any Spybot S&D Forums I could check..
