Right click the "a" icon, click about avast.

The first line in the pop up window will tell you the version. You may have to click the + sign to see it.

Alan coughs and asks ... what happened to this being the thread of the original poster and the concern about icons appearing or not?
<snip>

It relates directly to the OPs question about disappearing avast icons, if the malwarebytes has a setup monitoring function which could possibly disable the ashDisp.exe startup entry.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Well I find it is fun to learn new stuff even at my age.  I feel that the question wasn't really diverted from and that other posters felt that the malwarebytes program might be causing the issue and went into it from there.

I am not totally computer literate so to speak and it would do well for people who are to remember that sometimes people like myself might need to be told how to find out the sort of information you want.

I run Vista

The problem has be resolved by going to Control Panel> Add and Remove Programs> Avast> Repair, and rebooting my computer as suggested by someone earlier in the thread and I wish to thank you all for your help and the little bit of knowledge I have gleamed from this discussion

I will leave you with a little quote I love.. I am not sure who said it but

We don't stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.

One of the reasons I've never given up my toys.... ;D

I've also noticed that old folks who've stopped playing become grumpy.

grumpy.
Man, I've looked at the dictionary...
Surly and peevish; cranky.
I don't know any of these words: nor grumpy, neither surly and peevish; or cranky.
I'm learning English ;D
Can you make it easier to me Bob? ;)

Sorry Alan... It's Bob's fault not mine... I'm not guilty  ;D  ;D

Can a virus deactivate Avast? Cause as I said it happened to me,  I repaired it and icons appeared again.
If MBAM is a antivirus is not bad having with Avast installed? Is bad have 2 antivirus installed in one system?

Alanrf: have you deleted your reply in my other post? I received an email saying that you replied me but I dont see anything. Dont worry Im not like you, I like to listen people that dont think like me to consider different points of views... ::)

It may be nice for my friends in this forum to have a discussion about Malwarebyte ... but there is/are perfectly good forums where you could take that discussion rather than appearing to "hijack" and ignore the original concerns of the poster of this thread.
Yeah man always with your !
You always say to people what to say like you did to me here?
You dont realize that Theyre talkin of MBAM cause can interfere with Avast? You seem like a cop or a priest (avast! Evangelist) here, always controling what people says. Are you a mod?
Probably you stopped playing when youre too young...

Chele, just for curiosity, how you know your son was surfing porn? sometimes popups appear... ;D , let the boy let off, could become in a repressed (or opresor) man, like someone who I quote above...
Have you tested Spybot ?, though dont have the highest detection  rates (click on the link below) protect well against spies and is free.Well, you can contribute (like in all freeware) if you want.. ::)
I like your quote, I wrote it in my file: famous quotes  :)
