gero,

clearly you have asked to be notified of replies in threads in which you participate.  This thread (although not started by you) is one in which you participate.  So, you will be advised of replies.  That is how the forum works.

One of them was mine, not directed at you but at my friends Tech and David.

You have chosen, in your usual fashion, to evaluate my response to them.  Tech and David have chastised my response in another forum.  I paid great attention to their criticism of my comments since I value greatly their opinions - others, as we say in English - are like water off a duck's back.  Even though I rather enjoy your efforts at creative criticism ...  I shall do my best (in the interests of this community) not to provoke you directly.

Oh, though you would probably not like to have my support ... I rather agree with the basis some of your recent comments about what an antivirus should be for.  I could not be a priest ... I too am a single man ... well 'nuff said.

Hey! dont be so hipocrite and arrogant!  >:( I that message your not talking only to "your" (only?) friends, you think im idiot? You had a sarcastic (as here) intention of critice me when I was upset, (instead of helping me) so you demonstrated your human quality. . If your reply dont was directed to me why your friends deleted it? What your saying in it? You replied to me, though you say to be for you r friends, so dont confuse me. Yeah you provoked and hurted me, when someone is upset by problems a good Christian (and you call you Evangelist? ) dont "choose" to hurt more him. I liked to post here till you replied me and as I saw you have a special skill to judge people bad-critcing thwem. Realize that your sarcastic "fashion" way of telling things sometimes hurt or provoke people, keep in mind this for the future...
People that are annoyed that someone tells a bit of his life probably are jealous cause they dont have one. Youre right I dont want support of people like you and Im not surprised that youre single...

oldman:  :o whao! still using w98se! have you tested WinXP and Firefox ? (a more safer faster browser).Do you know Linux? there Are distros for old pcs that consume very low resources and have openoffice (free) installed instead of office (i say it for your ranting avatar  :P).

It requires no thought by me.

Nobody deleted anything ... everything is here as it was.

I regret that you feel the need to make personal attacks upon me.  Even more, I regret that you need to make unnecessary comments about oldman, a contributor to this forum of infinitely more value than you or me.

Your participation here is as welcome as any - but I honestly believe that you strain the limits.

Hi. I heard rumors that MS was releasing a new OS called XP. I'll have to check it out after all the kinks get worked out.

My old 98se just keeps going and going. Kinda like the Energizer Bunny. No rootkits, no ADS....No more failed MS updates. I think they finally got it right.

Seriously though, I do know about Xp. I was there when it came out and read the numerous post,on MS forums, "How do I get rid of it and get my ME back?" I spend considerable time removing malware from said OS. Hence the avatar. Well not only for Xp, but for computers in general. Sometimes they just have a mind of there own. I think people see the avatar and can relate.

Now to paraphrase an old bumber sticker

"My other PC is a duo core 1.6 ghtz xp pro"

and you call you Evangelist?
Nobody calls that way... If you reach a number of posts in the forum, that 'title' will be given to you automatically.

The word should have been "bumper" sticker. It's a sticker that is placed on the bumper of a vehicle with a caption on it. The one I paraphrased, originaly read" My other car is a Porche". These stickers where usually found on old beat up cars. It's a joke.  :D

Fact: I am a user of this forum, just that.  I do not have the ability to remove a post.  I can edit my own posts but not remove them.  That is reserved to the avast moderators.

Information:  At the end of each post there is a link: "Report to moderator"

If you feel I have misused the forums in respect to your posts or any other please feel free to ask the moderators to take action.  If they agree I have been abusive they will take appropriate action.

That is for this forum, in other forums you can delete your post. I saw the link Report to moderator, im not so dumb. But Reread your first post here when people where talking about Antimalware. I post it :

Quote
Alan coughs and asks
1st sarcasm
Quote
... what happened to this being the thread of the original poster and the concern about icons appearing or not?
Quote
It may be nice for my friends in this forum to have a discussion about Malwarebyte ... but there is/are perfectly good forums where you could take that discussion rather than appearing to "hijack" and ignore the original concerns of the poster of this thread.
2nd sarcasm. 1st+2nd=
Put sarcasm in your life!

FACTS

1st: youre interrupting collaborators talking of something important that interests to the starter of the post, though isnt Avast, a antimalware that can interfere with Avast, as said with David:
Quote
Does Malwarebytes have a startup monitoring function, if so check if it has disabled ashDisp.exe.
. The first thing I remember to my parents teached me is not interrupt a conversation of many people, especially of people older. This is called EDUCATION. So if you do it, youre not respecting people. This is not enough to report to mods but its a deploarble behavior.

2nd: Then David said to you again :
Alan coughs and asks ... what happened to this being the thread of the original poster and the concern about icons appearing or not?
<snip>

It relates directly to the OPs question about disappearing avast icons, if the malwarebytes has a setup monitoring function which could possibly disable the ashDisp.exe startup entry.
So you should learn to think twice before you interrupt people talking of something that not is directed to you, in this case to Chele, starter topic.

3rd: Chele showing better education of yours (and me) thank us all for the help and leave us a wonderful quote:
We don't stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.

4th: Bob called you grumpy an accurate but soft adjective, IMHO:
Quote
We don't stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.
One of the reasons I've never given up my toys.... ;D

I've also noticed that old folks who've stopped playing become grumpy.

Sorry alan for having taken this thread even further off-topic.  :)
You dont have to apologise of that bob, someone must say it to the man.

5th: tech replied bob and they start a game, agame that you like: sarcgame.with lots of ;D

6th: you took it personally...
Quote
I don't know any of these words: nor grumpy, neither surly and peevish; or cranky.

It's easy Tech ... when you want to know what they mean ... just think of me.

CONCLUSIONS

  • 1- Think before you post if that it is being commented have something to do with the original content of the post and dont interrupt people that are informing the starter of the topic though you think that has nothing to do.

2- Have a bit of patiencie and understanding with people (we re humans not computers!), especially older people (here). This is a way of RESPECT too.

3- Please dont talk with that arrogance (sure threr are people that have more knowledge than you or me) and sarcasm, as you noticed, is something that makes me sick...

4- el robocop (be more happy and dance chikichiki) oh! he losts in Eurovision yesterday! :'(

The best way to put out the flame is to realize that life is to short
to continue arguing and get on with life..... :)

probsbly youre right, unfortunately talking with some people sometimes leads to arguing but this doesnt means that we'd to stop say what we think. We have to be honest among us and unfortunately this can cause some frictions. Truth hurts. bye.
