!! Anyway to see Websites that I cleared...?
« on: May 05, 2008, 02:06:18 PM »
Grr... So many problems.

Is there anyway to see websites that I've visited but cleared the data on firefox?

Or if that was confusing.

If you've cleared the private data, Can you still see the websites that you visited anywhere?

Only if you type in the web address manually.

Do you use any extension that manage the sessions? Like Tab Mix Plus? The information from sessions could be saved and restored.
Direct way? If you clean the data, it won't exist anymore.

But still, as far as I know, when you clean all the data from Firefox, it cleans all the data from the plugins. I have yet to see a plugin that manages to record the stuff from Firefox after cleaning the data, cache, cookies, etc.

I believe Tech was talking about saving that information to a different folder prior to clearing all
privacy info.

Highly unlikely that this would have been done based on the subject of this thread.

Hi bob3160,

He would not have had this problems with FEBE installed inside Firefox, I always clean everything from the browser but FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, and (optionally) your bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile).

Version 5.0 allows for user-defined backups. Single files or entire directories can be specified to back up data for programs like Thunderbird, Greasemonkey, etc.

Backups can be performed on demand or scheduled for daily, weekly, or monthly unattended runs.

A comprehensive debug mode allows for troubleshooting complex platforms.
Works with:

    * Firefox: 2.0 – 3.0b2

has all in a different folder neatly restored.

Download link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109

polonus

P.S. Install this, and the only thing left is this:

Hope the files weren't already overwritten...

Polonus,
Your correct but this is an answer to an if question.....
Hindsight is always great and easy.  This can however prevent this problem in the future.  :)

Hi bob3160,

This is exactly the way we have come to learn all these things.
You, Bob,  are old enough to know how this works, as well as I (just nearing 60 and a half years now).
The restoration tool is very handy to have in case you have recently used the recycle bin and emptied it.
A lot can be restored that way. That is the only option that is left out for/to him or if (again if) he could restore his system to a previous point, he would have it all back. It is the same with back-ups, you start not forgetting about these things until you have met with disaster, and even then we are slack, that is typically human: the spirit is willing, but the flesh you know, bob  ;D is weak...
By the way all the best to you, and hope that the two of you (you and Alice) are in good health,
God bless you,

your avast webforum friend,

Damian

We are both fine. Thanks my friend.  :)
One of the nice features of FEBE is it's ability to do scheduled backups.
Once set up, you can forget all you want, it still does it's job.
If and When you need it, you know you can always restore your stuff
to the last automated backup.
