Check the folder Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\Skin

You can remove/install default skins through Control Panel > Add/remove programs > avast! > Change, uncheck/check skins.
This doesn't remove ability to use skins, but should stop default ones comming back all time you update/repair avast.

Check the folder Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\Skin

I also want to remove downloaded skins. I went to that folder but i'm not able to delete the files. I'm using Vista and UAC appears with a warning dialog about a permissions stuff. Do I need to shut down completely Avast to delete those files? I believe the permissions dialogs is because of Avast being active in the moment.

Thanks in advance.

You need to disable the avast self defense module to delete the files from the avast folder.
avast Settings -> Troubleshooting page.

Another reason to move skins, logs, etc. to an ApplicationData folder of Users...

Thanks for the info. Another question: How do I know wich files to delete? What's the extension of the skin?

<avast>\Data\Log\Debug*.txt can be deleted.
Other logs can be emptied by avast Log Viewer.

What's the extension of the skin?
*.asws

Not really. Even if these were in the Application Data folder (which is likely to happen in v5), they'd still be under the control of the Self defense module.

Please, let the logs out of this protection... the debug files, what we do with them?  :P

Thanks for the suggestions. The skins were deleted succesfully with no problem ;D. Maybe for Avast 5 make it easier to manage skins, with the option to uninstall them from the UI.

PD: didn't find the <avast>\Data\Log\Debug*.txt file. Is there any need to delete it?

There will be no skins to be managed with avast 5 (they will not be supported).  Problem solved.

The skins will be dead in Avast 5? Why? :(
Hope the UI integrates better with Vista... ::)

The skin tool was no longer develop.
A lot of people complain about the skins interface (although lots of others do not agree with them).

Well, you could empty the logs with avast log viewer... I don't think there will be much more.
Are there any files called <avast>\data\log\unpXXXX there  (where XXXX is a random number)?

I'll check it out when I'm Home. The unpXXXX files have to be deleted too?
