Scanned Email message and Virus DB
« on: March 27, 2004, 05:56:42 AM »
Hi,

I love Avast! However I have a problem:

I set it up so incoming and outgoing emails have a message appended to them letting everyone know what AV I am using. However the message appended shows an outdated VPS file. I sent myself an email a few moments ago - attached the message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean.

Virus Database (VPS): 0403-16, 03/20/2004
Tested on: 3/26/2004 10:49:22 PM
avast! is copyright (c) 2000-2003 ALWIL Software.

However the actual VPS file is 0403-19 with a compilation date of 26-3-2004 (based on the About Avast screen).

Is the email scanner using the most updated VPS file?
Or is there a problem with my setup and the message is incorrect?

I feel uncomfortable sending emails that show I am using an AV database that is almost 1 week old...

This is a known bug that will be corrected in the next build (version) of avast!  ;)
No security problem anyway, you are, in fact, using the last virus database available. You can 'edit' your note to not show this specific line but only the other ones  :)
