Internet explorer crash

I have just upgraded from free Avast to Avast Professional 4.8 and since then Internet Explorer keeps crashing or It just disappears. Can anyone help please and remember I am not very technically minded.

Did you upgrade by entering the pro registration # ?? If not, how did you upgrade

do you use IE7 or IE8 beta?
