zheke01 -

Updates are scheduled over a space of time to prevent overloading the servers. Let's say, for example, that an update is released at 10PM (your time) but your update happens 10 hours later which would be 8AM for you. Because of the timed update to prevent server overloading, an update released on May 24 at 10PM may not be received by you until May 25 at 8AM. I do not know the actual times and this is, as I stated, just an example using the dates you supplied.

I hope this makes the answer a little more clear for you.

Hello.
I have a computer at home with no internet connection, and I used to update the old antivirus program I had on it through my computer at the office (which is connected to the internet), by downloading the update files into my flashdrive, then doing a manual update on my pc at home. I have uninstalled the old antivirus program, and I plan to put in avast home edition instead. My only concern is, would I be able to update avast using my old roundabout way?  :-\

CharleyO,

I have seen plenty of evidence of the staggered distribution of avast program updates.

The VPS updates (which appears to be the discussion point here) are so small that I find it hard to believe there is any need for staggered updates there. Given these are "on demand updates" and not a distribution can you point me to any posts by the avast team that lead you to this belief that VPS updates are restricted in this fashion?
