The VPS I have is 090330-0. If yours is the same (or later), is the PC clock, date, time and region correct?

The virus signature data base and the version number lets us know if it is in date, right click the avast 'a' icon, select about avast.

Sometimes, Windows Security Center stop recognizing your antivirus or firewall... So, check your system time and date and also http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=23457.msg193534#msg193534

Don't know if this is fixed yet for the OP or not, but I've had this happen to my test Vista machine, and I just uninstalled avast with the cleanup utility (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html) and re-installed.  Worked like a charm.

Also, had the avast icon disappear from the tray area once, and a re-boot got it back. I still don't know what that was about, but it's fixed now!

Hope this helps.
