recommend anti-malware

someone had previously mentioned that Lavasoft's AdAware is no longer the Top Dog because its startegy is obsolete, that a completely different anti-malware strategy is being beta'd.

this pontificator left it at that. can i now be told a more substantial explanation?

I can't help further.
What I can say is that the detection rate of Adaware is very small... a lot of things pass through it intact. So, users recommend other antispywares.

can you tell me what evidence there is that a substantial amount of malware slips by detection? and what other anti-malware are others recommending?

thanks.

Ad-Aware has got some poor reviews in the past, but the latest review from this source at least is better.

Only the paid versions (Pro/Plus) have AV: the free version can be used without conflict.
