the first time i got a update a box poped up beside my system clock telling me of the update is there a setting to enable it to do that because i just got a update but the box didnt popup......................... ???

You sure was it was an actual update or just the program checking for an update.  It checks every four hours and at start up.

You can configure almost everything in avast!
