Please, in such case of hang-up, do this:
- in terminal utility, write: ps -lax | grep OS/avast
- in the first line, the 2nd number from left is avast's GUI's PID
- type lsof <that_pid> | grep ESTABLISHED
... and you will know which particular server is "in action". the, you muigh try using web browser or wget or similar utility to access
the URL http://<that_server>/files/latest/mac/400.vps - probably, the server is overloaded, and the rate will be very low. this menas, it simply takes a while to complete.
At the moment, some servers are in such overloaded state now, but others are fully OK. Simply, quit and restart the gui, and fire manual update, to get another server, probably more healthy, for the next update connection. We'll fix this at our side ASAP.
