hi !

i'm planning to re-install my OS in my pc !!!

except for avast!, what are the other essential security softwares that keeps my pc safe and virus free??

i would recommend a firewall (Comodo or OA or ...)
also an additional antispyware-program would not be wrong (don't know which one is good...)

probably system restore program, if you want to use such...

(just my opinion  ;) )

'New' computers are often out of date: the disk image used may be weeks or months out of date and contain insecure software. The Secunia PSI will let you know of any software that needs updating because of security vulnerabilities, now and in the future.
