Avast thinks BitTorrent is a virus?
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:34:21 PM »
My Avast virus database was updated today, and when I try to open BitTorrent on my computer (which I've had installed for the past year, and the file has not been updated since then), Avast says the following:

Sign of "Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}" has been found in "C:\Program Files\BitTorrent\bittorrent.exe" file

Did my BitTorrent program somehow get infected, or is it possible that this is an error?

Thanks!

Typically false positive.
As a workaround, you can add these files to the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning) exclusion list.
Left click the 'a' blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize. Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button...
You can use wildcards like * and ?. But be careful, you should 'exclude' that many files that let your system in danger.
