HOW TO Install avast in a Linux Server
« on: June 19, 2008, 03:20:02 PM »
Hello,

I have a mail server on an Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy.

I would like to install Avast on it because my company has a license for it.

But I can't install it and I can't find any documentation to help me install Avast on my server.

Even when I try to install the packages libavastengine, avast4server and avast4mail I've got some problems. I fixed some of them but I don't now how to check if it works.

If someone can help me, it would be great...

Hallo,
there are 3 different "it works" levels:
1) whether virus database and engine is OK: try avastcmd <some_path>
2) whether the server (daemon) is OK: try avastlite <some_path>
3) whether the mail support is OK: try to pass some mail through and check headers and/or daemon's log
