I'm not sure if is that much faster as it isn't obviously faster and I feel that there is still work to be done on the page layout.

For example when posting in this topic the page was still being formatted and I was trying to type in the Quick Reply box, but it was jumping around like a wild woman as images on the page loaded it was jumping up and down making it almost impossible to compile my reply.

So I would say the new page layout is work in progress as the images should be mapped out as a place holder space that will contain the image allowing the rest of the page layout to continue. This is what allows people to read the text on a page whilst the images load.

Perhaps this isn't an issue with those on broadband, which to me shows no one was testing it on dial-up ???

I Guess they figure most people are on broadband, wither by DSL, Cable, FiOS, Satellite, or 3G Mobile Broadband.

I downloaded FF3, more copying from Opera.

I don't notice any speed increase in FF3, but Opera 9.50 is faster than Opera 9.27.  It isn't necessary to say Opera is still faster than FF3.

Opera is still the King of browsers.

Got my copy earlier today about an hour and a half after launch. I like it, there is some work to be done, but overall it is an improvement imo over the old 2.0.x releases. I am expecting them to release a 3.0.x update soon to fix some of the initial bugs.

My PC's

Compaq Presario:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
AMD Athlon 3800+ 2.4 GHz
2 GB RAM

Sony Vaio:
Windows XP Professional SP3 [Tester]
Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz
1.5 GB RAM

It seems zippier to me than FF2 and at least it works with the BBC Radio Player (which early betas did not).

It appears that the back arrow is missing in the new FF version.
I see a function to reload the current page but nothing to reload the previous page ???

Any easy fixes besides using the back option when using the right click function???

The back arrow was there on mine using the default firefox theme (ugly as sin), which I have now replaced with Aeon Clouds which I think is a great theme.

I am wondering about the best way to install the new ff3.

Should i uninstall v.2 first and then install 3?

Or, if i install 3 over 2, will it replace 2 or will i end up with both 2 and 3?

Thanks for the help.

Wow all that to avoid loosing some add-ons that aren't compatible with FF 3.0, the main add-ons that are security related work with 3.0 like NoSxcript, BetterPrivacy, Steather, WOT, JavaScript Options (or have updates available).

So I suggest you update your add-ons whilst still using 2.0 so you are as ready as possible , plus many more and that figure will get bigger now FF 3.0 is at the final release version.

I Just downloaded the FF 3.0 setup and closed FF and ran the installation file and no problems, yes some add-ons didn't work but nothing absolutely essential. I checked regularly for updates to the add-ons and regularly there were updates. I still have some that aren't compatible but I don't think it is worthwhile waiting.

You can also 'force' the installation using:
