New Download - No providers running
« on: June 22, 2008, 01:32:38 AM »
Just downloaded Version 4.8 1201 - blue icon with @ on it says - 6 providers, 0 running - does this mean my computer is unprotected, if so how do I activate the program(I have already entered my registration #)

Thank You

I take it that you aren't using the avast 4 server version as this is the specific forum you have posted in ?

Hopefully one of the moderators will move it to the avast 4 Home/Pro forum.

Normally I would expect to see 7 providers 6 running.

So you installation doesn't appear to have completed successfully.
Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

What avast processes are running in Task Manager, they begin with ash or asw, see image ?

Really can not tell what forum I am in - home addition not server edition program - have tried to reinstall many times with same results - just downoaded AVG free download and will use that instead of Avast.

Thanks for your reply

The various forums are listed at the top of the page, see image.

When you arrive at the www.forum.avast.com/index.html there is a list of forums (for the different versions of avast) you want the one for avast 4 Home/Pro (see image 2) this is for the future continue in this topic and hopefully one of the moderators will move this.

We are happy to help but it has to be a two way street, good luch with avg if that is the direction you want to go. You might notice many leaving avg for avast in light of the latest avg 8.0 update.
