Thanks for the feed back. Most strange as the windows firewall shouldn't interact (computers), having a firewall with proper outbound protection is better than the windows one so it is a better situation all round.

tech; PCShield was my old firewall. I had PC Security Shield pro2007 as my antiVirus and PC Shield firewall was part of the security program. The subscription was due so I decided to try Avast. Thats when my problem started. I feel when I uninstalled PCShield it left remnants that blocked Avast webshield. I will contact PC Shield to find out how I can delete PCShield software without leaving any remnants. Avast seems to be working fine now with all of the default applications installed.
