w2k-heavy problems

My Comp is running with W2000Pro and OFFICE2000. Since I downloaded AVAST 4.1/HOME the most programs don`t starts. Only WINDOWS-EXPLORER, IE-EXPLORE (only Vers. 5.0) and outlook starts. The other starts either from desktop, nor from the DIR C:\PROGRAM\....
I can open an old word-file and words starts.
After download AVAST 4.1 the program deleted 8 infected Files from C:WINNT\....(2 SWEN,5 TROJAN-GEN,1 BV:MALWARE)
I have removed AVAST 4.1 with no problems but nothing has changed.
I started in security-mode (F8), same problems.
I repaired W2000PRO from CD, nothing has changed.
Now I hope somebody could help me.
Or I have to install the whole computer.

Hi,

some of these Worms/viruses seems to have changed your settings to open exe-files
-> avast Cleaner should fix it:

read all the instructions carefully FIRST !!

if that doesn't help, please come back with DETAILED info on the deleted viruses/worms:
- exact virusname and full path/folder/filename for EACH virus/worm/malware
see avast'S report/log for this info

P.S.: It is ALWAYS a good idea to get information on the proper removal procedure when a virus is found, especially if you're not so firm with viruses/PCs

I start the cleaner with .cmd and it works perfect.
