vista 32 bit - and bart cd
« on: July 03, 2008, 07:23:36 PM »
i'm new to bart cd, i have been able to use the bart cd on an xp machine, but when i try it on vista 32 bit with sp1 it cannot find registry, therefor the cd is useless to me and i cannot do my intended work with it.  i am a self-employed pc technician.

What exactly does it mean, "cannot find registry"?
Can BART see the hard disk? (the system drive, in particular)

it boots up in bart then when you ak it to do something from the list it comes up with the select registry window and all but the exit buttons are greyed out and no registry is listed.

Even the "Define and load custom registry file" button is disabled?
If you start Servant Salamender from the main menu - can you go into the Windows directory of the Vista installation?

I guess it's caused by missing HDD drivers. (SATA?)
It seems that it's rather hard to include more HDD drivers into BART (e.g. Intel drivers conflict with each other - even when not "used" - and cause bluescreens in BART). We are working on a new version, built on Vista kernel, which will hopefully solve the problem.

In between, you may try to
1. supply the controller driver on a diskette when BART is booting, if you have any
or
2. disable "Native SATA mode" in BIOS before booting BART (and setting it back when you're done with BART, I guess)
